We all suffer bereavement in our lives and we deal with it in different ways. The grief is no different whether that life has been brief or long. Our journey began more than a decade ago, with the planting of our lovely memorial wood. Today we provide opportunities to scatter ashes during our unique ceremonies in the memorial wood situated in the beautiful West Country.
Why Scatter Ashes?
Traditional ways of marking bereavement no longer work for everyone, but ceremony is the shared acknowledgement of the importance of an event. With traditional burials, this observance was a familiar ritual. With cremation, the ritual and its emotional significance can be lost. For the completion of the cycle of life, we need to mark the passing of our loved ones; it is not simply laying them to rest, it is also a turning point for us to remember, say goodbye and go forward. It is especially important for children to have this memory, to reflect on the life they have shared and the love that supports them. Offering opportunities to scatter ashes provides a meaningful way to honour this cycle of life and ensure the emotional significance of the ritual is preserved.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE
We set up Beyond Fyre to offer a different way of marking a life. We have designed a ceremony of dignity and respect for those of every faith and diversity. After cremation - beyond the fire - there should be a period of mourning but also a celebration of the life completed. Beyond Fyre gives you the chance to scatter ashes of a loved one in our beautiful memorial wood in the glorious Dorset/Devon countryside by the sea near Lyme Regis. In the future, we can offer a plaque in our stone wall in memory.
